1st course on surgical exploration of mediastinum

Thursday and Friday, 6 and 7 October, the Joint Department of Thoracic Surgery of the MútuaTerrassa University Hospital, Sant Pau Hospital, Hospital del Mar and the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR)

On Thursday and Friday, 6 and 7 October, the Joint Department of Thoracic Surgery of the MútuaTerrassa University Hospital, Sant Pau Hospital, Hospital del Mar and the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR) will hold a workshop titled “course on surgical exploration of mediastinum” in the Edifici Docent. The workshop will be led by Dr. Josep Belda Sanchís, chief of the Joint Department of Thoracic Surgery of MútuaTerrassa University Hospital, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and Hospital del Mar; Dr. Rafael Jiménez Merchán, chief of the Thoracic Surgery Department at SEPAR and Dr. José M. Matilla González, chief of the Oncology Department at SEPAR.



In addition to the theoretical classes led by Dr. Ramón Rami, Dr. Sergi Call, Dr. Joan C. Trujillo, Dr. Carme Obiols, Dr. Bienvenido Barreiro and Dr. Mireia Serra , the course will also include a practical side which will kick off on the 7 of October at 8am with a live surgical demonstration. Conference participants will be able to attend live surgeries where they will learn about surgical actions and gain advice and tips for each surgical technique.



The Joint Department of Thoracic Surgery of the MútuaTerrassa University Hospital, Hospital de Salut Mar and Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau was created in 2009 in order to offer improved services to the residents of its coverage area, especially in terms of lung cancer. This department which covers almost 2 million residents has received various recognition, such as the Professor Barea award in 2011.
