A group of professionals from the Intensive Care Unit at MútuaTerrassa University Hospital (HUMT) earn an award for the best publication in a scientific journal granted by the Catalan Resuscitation Council.

In March 2015, the prestigious journal Elsevier-Journal of Critical Care published an article titled "Low compliance with the 2 minutes of uninterrupted chest compressions recommended in the 2010 International Resuscitation Guidelines". The article analysed compliance with quality criteria from the 2010 guidelines of 2 minutes of uninterrupted external chest compression (ECC) for cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

This study observed 72 nurses and doctors trained in advanced CPR who were asked to perform the ECC technique for an uninterrupted period of 2 minutes on a dummy. The article concluded that compliance with quality criteria of the 2010 guidelines was often lacking due to inadequate depth when performing the ECC technique.

The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 24 May during the closing act of the 2015/2016 academic year of the Medical Sciences and Health Academy of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. It will be held at 6:30pm in the auditorium of the academy (Carrer Major de Can Caralleu, 1-7 in Barcelona).
