In commemoration of World Breast Cancer Day, MútuaTerrassa organised a conference as part of the Dijous de Mútua series titled: “Breast cancer prevention”. The conference was held on 27 October and was led by Dr. Israel Barco, director of Technical Office for Breast Screening of MútuaTerrassa University Hospital.

Dr. Israel Barco emphasised that breast cancer is the most frequent type of tumour in women, with over 25,000 new cases diagnosed every year in Spain. The risk of onset increases with age but if cancer is detected in time, the chances are good for overcoming it.

Currently, 85% of cases are cured when there is an early detection of a tumour in its developing stages. To detect these types of tumours, we recommend performing medical and self examinations.
