The 4th scientific conference of the MútuaTerrassa Teaching and Research Foundation will address the role of the microbiome in human health

Professor Didier Raoult, renowned specialist French microbiologist
in infectious diseases, will deliver the master conference.

Next Friday, November 24, the MútuaTerrassa Teaching and Research Foundation will hold the fourth edition of the scientific day that it organizes periodically, with the purpose of highlighting its work
scientific and researcher. The chosen theme is infectious diseases and specifically the microbiome (set of microorganisms that inhabit the human body, and its interrelation with the organism) and its role in human health. It will take place from 10.30 in the teaching building of MútuaTerrassa.

The highlight of the day will be the lecture by Professor Didier Raoult, under the title "Role of microbiota and its influence in human health and disease", which will be held at 1:30 p.m. The Professor Raoult is the Chief of Service of the Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology of the University Hospital of Marseille and the most productive and most cited European microbiologist in the last 10 years. He is the creator of the largest and most productive research laboratory in France and Europe in the field of infectious diseases, which currently employs more than 300 people.

Previously, the day contemplates the holding of a workshop around the human Microbiome moderated by Dr. Xavier Garau, senior consultant of the MútuaTerrassa Assistance Service Area. It will have a multidisciplinary approach from three different aspects: "Microbiota and antibiotic resistance", by Dr. Jordi Vila of the Microbiology Service of the Hospital Clínico de Barcelona, ​​"Microbiota and disease inflammatory bowel syndrome", by Dr. Francisco Guarner of the Digestive Service of the Hospital Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona and "Microbiota and HIV infection", by Dr. Roger Paredes of the Infectious Diseases Service of the IrsiCaixa Institute and the Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol of Badalona.

At the end of the day the prizes will be awarded to the winners of the scholarships of the Teaching and Research Foundation 2016 in the 3 modalities: research projects that are developed in the field of primary care, in the clinical-hospital or laboratory and in the field of socio-sanitary foundations.
