The sixth edition of the International Workshop in the Treatment of Liver and Lung Metastases and Peritoneal Carcinomatosis of patients with Cancer of the Colon and Rectum, which was held on 16 and 17 November in Barcelona attracted the attention of a large number of general and specialized media.

The organization and the presidency was in charge - again - of the MútuaTerrassa University Hospital and the most recent approaches and updates in the treatment of patients with these diseases were discussed. It brought together about 200 international and national specialists with a multidisciplinary approach, including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, etc.
Speakers of international relevance included Dr. Rene Adam (Director of the liver surgery team at the Paul-Brousse Hospital in Paris), Dr. Tom Treasure (Clinical unit of operational research at the University London) and Dr. Paul H. Sugarbaker (Chief of Peritoneal Surgery at the Washington Hospital Center).
In addition, Dr. Luis Martí-Bonmatí also participated (La Fe Hospital in Valencia). As a novelty this year, the application of peritoneal surgery with intraperitoneal chemotherapy (Dr. Sugarbaker) was addressed and a new radio-genomic imaging system was discussed as well as the virtual biopsy (Dr. Martí-Bonmatí).
