Focused from a testimonial perspective, the report counted on the contributions of these two professionals to address the most technical and scientific issues and to explain to the readers the work that the HUMT performs in terms of transplants and donations.

In this sense, Dr. Trenado was interviewed about the advantages of live patient transplants over cadaver patients and the types of donations that can be carried out in the HUMT.

Dr. Trenado also referred to the high level of awareness of the Catalan population towards organ donations, such as the increasing and progressive increase in the number of donors.

On the other hand, Dr. Martí spoke about the Program of
autotransplantation of hematopoietic progenitors of peripheral blood (TASP), an initiative coordinated by the Hematology service and born with the objective of offering to the patients of the geographical area of reference of the HUMT the Possibility of receiving the most advanced hematological treatments without having to go to other hospitals. Dr. Martí explains, among others, that since it was launched, more than 250 patients have benefited from this complex therapeutic modality that requires sophisticated technology.

The TASP program, referring to Barcelona
It should be noted that the activity of the TASP program has increased exponentially in recent years. In this sense, recently the HUMT has signed a collaboration agreement with the Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa and Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí, through which it has become the reference center of the Vallès Occidental for this type of transplantation. This collaboration is already a reality that, apart from offering a first level assistance, allows the patients and their families the comfort of receiving the totality of the treatment near their address.
