The Intensive Medicine service sensitizes the public on how to proceed in case of a cardiac arrest

Coinciding with the European Restart a Heart Day, on Monday 16 he developed an awareness raising action in the center of Terrassa.

Every day there are 10 cardiac arrests in Catalonia and a good part of the population does not know how to act in these cases. Faced with this reality, the Intensive Care Unit of the MútuaTerrassa University Hospital and the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Commission (CPR) have wanted to sensitize the population about the advisability of knowing how to proceed in case of a person suffering from cardiac arrest.

In this sense, on the 16th, they carried out a simulation of cardiorespiratory arrest - a happening - in three points of the city center very crowded and with very diverse publics, with the aim of covering as many people as possible. Thus, the Independence Market, Plaza de la Farinera and Vallparadís Station-University of Railways of the Generalitat de Catalunya have been the scenarios where the three simulations took place.

Once concluded, the professionals of the Intensive Care Unit, the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Commission (CPR) and the MútuaTerrassa Emergency Medical Service (SEM) individually taught all volunteer citizens the correct performance of external chest compressions (CTE) that are part of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Between the three sites, about fifty people received this individual training on how to act before a cardiac arrest. In addition, at the social media level the action was also very well received: Facebook already has more than 6,245 views, Periscope accumulates 272 viewers and Twitter more than 8,099 impressions.
