The endoscopic thyroidectomy by the axillary-mammary route, a new technique in thyroid surgery that avoids the cervical scar, is the issue addressed by Dr. Larrañaga in the interview published on the back cover of the newspaper Punt Avui on February 22.

This is a new subcutaneous approach procedure that has recently begun to implement the HUMT with the aim of continuing to bet on minimally invasive and safe surgery, speed up patient recovery, reduce postoperative pain and respond to aesthetic requirements.

During the interview, Dr. Larrañaga explains this innovative technique that allows access to the thyroid without incision in the neck and allows to reach through three points (armpits and mammary areoles) through a subcutaneous endoscopic approach.

It also explains that a better vision and movement of the professional is achieved, which facilitates the intervention and gains in versatility. However, Dr. Larrañaga explains the origin of the technique as well as the prevalence of this disease.

As a closing, he talks about the training workshop that the endocrine surgery unit held in the teaching building at the end of January for some fifty state professionals interested in this new way and on the convenience of starting to consider the systematic implementation of hospitals.
