PROGRAMME OF INFORMATION SESSSIONS FOR PATIENTS WITH NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASE AND/OR THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS

The Neurology Department of the MútuaTerrassa University Hospital has two units dedicated to care, research and education in memory disorders and dementia (Healthcare Network of Catalonia-Xarxa Assistencial de Catalunya) and movement disorders and spasticity.

Both units are grouped under the name “Neurodegenerative Disease Care” and rely on a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team composed of neurologists, neuropsychologists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, clinical aids and administrative staff.

A fundamental aspect of Neurodegenerative Disease Care is the “Family Disease” sessions intended for families and their loved ones living with the disease. These information sessions systematically take place throughout the year on an ongoing basis and are aimed at providing information about the disease, treatment and progression as well as personalised tools for dealing with each phase in the process for each individual case.

The sessions are organised on different levels- individual/family, in groups of families, and in broader formats- and are open to families, professionals and the general public. These information sessions are held in the multi-purpose rooms of the Memory and Dementia Care Unit and/or the Movement Disorders and Spasticity Unit or in the classrooms or auditorium of MútuaTerrassa, if necessary.
